What if my pet's microchip is listed on another database?

If your pet is listed on another national database such as AAR, Global Micro or Petsafe, you will need to to contact that organisation to manage your pet's microchip record.

Why do I need to list my pet in my name?

A national microchip listing ensures that you can be contacted no matter where your pet is found in Australia, year-round 24/7.

If your pet is listed in your name of the database, it also prevents 3rd parties from listing your pet in their name without your consent.

Is this the same as council registration?

No. The Council Registration allows you to have your pet on your property, but the national microchip listing is what councils, vets and authorised welfare organisations use to contact the owner for stray pets.
