A microchip only works if it's linked to a NATIONAL database.

A scanner can read your pet's microchip, but the chip itself holds no owner details. Those details live on the database — and that's what a vet or council worker checks when your pet is found.

If your pet is found and the listing is missing or out of date, the finder has no way to reach you. Listing on the national database closes that gap, so the call goes straight to you.

My pet is already microchipped — do I still need to list them?

Yes. The microchip itself holds no owner details — it is just a unique 15 digit number. The listing is what links that number to your contact details, so a vet, council or shelter who scans your pet can reach you straight away. Without a listing, a found pet can be scanned but not returned.

Is the $13.99 fee really once-off?

Yes. It is a single payment of $13.99 with no subscription and no renewal. You pay once to list your pet on the national database, and the listing stays active for life of your pet.

How long until my pet is protected?

Your listing is active as soon as your payment is confirmed. In practice that means within a few seconds of completing checkout — there is no waiting period for a new listing.

What happens if my contact details change?

You can update your details any time by logging into your account, so you can always be reached if your pet is found. Changes take effect immediately, and you can update your phone number, address or email as often as you need.

Who can see my pet's listing?

Vets, councils and authorised animal welfare organisations can search the database to reunite a found pet with its owner. Your listing is not publicly browsable — it is only accessible to authorised organisations who scan a microchip and need to contact the registered owner.
